The Taiwan Baseball Development Association has partnered with SHARP Taiwan Co., Ltd., one of our valued corporate partners, to create healthier and more comfortable learning and living environments for young baseball players across Taiwan.
As part of this collaboration, SHARP Taiwan donated a total of 76 SHARP Plasmacluster air purifiers to 20 schools supported by the Taiwan Baseball Development Association. Located across Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Nantou, Pingtung, Hualien, and Taitung, these schools either have dedicated reading corners established with the Association’s support or provide residential facilities for their baseball teams. Through this donation, we hope to provide the children with healthier and more comfortable spaces in which to study, read, rest, and grow.
The donation ceremony was held at Zhongshan Elementary School in Zhudong Township, Hsinchu County, whose baseball team accepted the donation on behalf of the 20 participating schools.
Zhongshan Elementary School has long been committed to promoting reading education. To ensure that its young baseball players have a welcoming place to learn and read outside of training, the school has actively sought support from various sectors to renovate the baseball team’s reading room. This year, under the leadership of Principal Hui-Hung Lu, the school received the Ministry of Education’s prestigious Reading Rock Award, the highest recognition for schools demonstrating outstanding dedication to reading education.
Principal Lu expressed her appreciation:
“We are grateful to the Taiwan Baseball Development Association for its long-term support in helping us create a better reading environment, organizing diverse learning activities for the children, and providing books suited to their interests and needs. We are also especially thankful to SHARP for joining us this time and making the reading corner an even warmer and more comfortable space.
“The children on our baseball team are still young. While developing their baseball skills is important, their education and reading must continue as well. Reading is an essential foundation for lifelong learning and will play an important role in their future growth.”
SHARP Taiwan Planning Division Director Chia-Hsin Hsiao and Manager Hui-Wen Hsia also attended the donation ceremony in person.
A devoted baseball fan for more than 30 years, Director Hsiao shared his thoughts on the partnership:
“As a marketing director, I have always thought about how a company and its brand can support the development of baseball in Taiwan in more meaningful ways. We chose to work with the Taiwan Baseball Development Association because I strongly identify with its mission. As these children grow, they may pursue their dreams in competitive sports, but baseball can also remain a lifelong passion and even help shape the direction of their lives. We hope this support can create a positive impact and benefit even more people.”
Li-Ling Hsiao, Secretary-General of the Taiwan Baseball Development Association, said:
“The Taiwan Baseball Development Association will always stand firmly behind these young baseball players. We are grateful to the teachers and coaches at each school for accompanying the children as they grow, and we sincerely thank SHARP for its generous support, which has enabled more schools to improve their reading spaces.
“Looking ahead, we will continue to provide books that children enjoy and connect schools with corporate partners to improve both reading and residential environments. We hope that while these young players courageously pursue their baseball dreams, they can also experience the joy and happiness that reading brings.”
This partnership not only reflects SHARP Taiwan’s commitment to corporate social responsibility, but also puts into action the Taiwan Baseball Development Association’s long-standing educational philosophy of advancing “Reading × Baseball” side by side.
Through this continuing cycle of kindness and support, we hope to create better spaces for young grassroots baseball players across Taiwan—places where they can read, learn, grow, and pursue their dreams.
